Obituary for Salomia Conner

Sister Salomia P. Conner was born January 15, 1937. She departed this life for her eternal home on Thursday, May 27, 2021.

Salomia confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of the Mount Ararat Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. B. J. and Dr. Howard L. Nelson, Sr., where she served faithfully as the attendance keeper and a member of the Adult #1 Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her parents: George Parrish and Ella (Oneal Roosevelt) Patterson; three brothers: James Parrish Sr., Roosevelt Patterson, Jr., and William Parrish, Sr.; one sister: Leona Alston.

She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband of 68 years: Willie James Conner; three sons: Curtis (Gail) Conner of Pennsylvania, Stanley (Tonya) Conner of Gardendale, AL, and Gregory (Wanda) Conner; three daughters: Dianne (Andre) Richmond, Sr., Cheryl (Bobby) Broughton, Mary (Derek) Johnson all of Mobile, AL.; one step-daughter: Christine (William) Echols.

Seventeen grandchildren: Andre (Victoria) Richmond, Jr., Tyies Richmond, Antwan (Terran) Richmond, Courtney (Johnathan) Bettle, Brian Conner, Daniel (Nicole) Conner, Breeshun (Jeffery) Crawford, Damarcus (Andrea) Broughton, Dejuan (Tiffany) Broughton, Raven Dials, Amber (Leroy) Wells, Justin Fountain, Shelandra Black, Shequita (Hakeef) McGrier, Nicole (Kenneth) Harden, Gregory Conner, Jr. Brittany Echols; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Three sisters: Alberta Pruitt, Louvenia (John) Simmons, Bernice Henley; eight sisters-in-law: Betty Parrish, Sarah Parrish, Vera Patterson, Emma Jean (Lee) Anderson, Fannie Brown, Elizabeth (Charles) Williams, Geneva (William) Moore, Patricia (James) McCants; two brothers-in-law: Charles (Linda) Conner, Forrest (Denise) Conner; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 11am until 1:30pm at Gulf Coast Cremation And Funerals, 7000 Bellingrath Road, Mobile, AL in the “Chapel Of Remembrance”. The graveside “Celebration Of Life” Ceremony will begin at 2:30 pm in the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL.
