Obituary

Phillip Floyd, Jr. was born February 7th, 1931 in Brewton, Alabama to the union of the late Phillip Sr. and Hannah Floyd. He was the youngest son of eight children.

He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife: Bettye Floyd; children: Phillip Floyd III and Theresea Floyd Davis; as well as all seven of his siblings.

Phillip graduated from Southern Normal High School in 1948 before joining the United States Air Force in 1951. Phillip held employment with various local businesses including Bay Tractor and Leroy Jordan Tractor. He retired from the City of Mobile after 30 years as a certified mechanic.

He loved to fish. Because of that, he spent many weekends on the Gulf. Aside from being an expert mechanic, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories his children: Wayne Demetrius (Virginia), Wanda, Sophia, and Tammy Floyd; a dynamic group of 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, one devoted, Quinn; two brothers-in law: Dennis and Bobby Hardy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, three devoted: Mary Emma Emmons, David Lee and Frank Hudson, Sr.

His remains will lie in state on Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 9am until 1pm at Gulf Coast Cremation and Funerals.

The “Celebration Of Life” Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 2pm, Lawn Haven Cemetery in Theodore, Alabama.
