Obituary for John Browder Jr.

On September 22, 2020, the Angel Of God whispered: “Come now and take your rest.”

John Henry “Sonny” Browder, Jr. was born on November 6, 1942 in Monroeville, AL and moved to Mobile, AL at an early age.

He was the only child born to the late John Browder, Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Short.

John was a graduate of Central High School and Tuskegee University. He worked for many years at Orkin Exterminator in Birmingham, AL. and as a Bartender at the Convention Center. Sonny had many talents such as singing, dancing and being a fantastic dresser.

He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt: Willie Mae Andrews; grandmother: Georgia Andrews.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters: LaTonya R. (Derek) Autrey of Mobile, AL and Tawanda A. (Jerry) Carn of Riviera Beach, FL; four grandchildren: Maya M.Taylor of Mobile, AL, PFC Patrick O. Green, Jr. of Fort Bragg, NC, Patrianna O. Green of Riviera Beach, FL, Patron O. Green of Riviera Beach, FL; two great-grandchildren: Keith D. Singleton, III of Mobile, AL and Paradise L. Green of Ruskin, FL; one godsister: Vanessa O’Cain of Atlanta, GA; one devoted cousin: Juanita Flanagan of Villa Rica, GA; three devoted friends: Ethel “Baby Sister” Reuben, George Portis and Chandra LeDoux; a host of other relatives and friends.


A public viewing will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 10am until 11am "Celebration Of Life" Service at Gulf Coast Cremation and Funerals in the "Chapel Of Remembrance".
