Obituary for Charles Melton

His Journey &Legacy
Charles Henry Melton, Sr.
May 29, 1950 - July 10, 2022

Charles Henry Melton, Sr. entered this life on May 29, 1950 to

the large family of Howard Lee and Katie Maude Melton. He de-
parted in peace to join his father, mother, brother, Howard Melton,

Jr., sisters: Maggie Ruth Brown and Jenni Faye King; and beloved
daughter, LaTrenia Cox in their heavenly home on Sunday, July 10,
2022.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory his sisters: Grace Hasan and
Jackie Stampley; his brothers: Pernell Melton, Sam Willie Lott and
Bobby Melton; his wife, Debra Melton. United in their grief is his
pride and joys, his children: Jeffrey, Samantha, Orlando, Tanjanika,
Sasha, Tony, Wayne, Ernest and Maurice. His friends of over fifty
years, Alvin and Kelly. His devoted niece, Brenda Faye;and his
life long partner, Ivora Vail. Charles was survived by his
eight grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and friends.

At the end of his earthly journey, Charles described himself as a
“simple man”. He loved his loud/rambunctious family, music,
martial arts films, a good laugh with friends, and the value of a hard
day's work. To his children and those who knew him, he would
never be described as simple. He was demanding of excellence but
forgave those who were not perfect.

He believed in working hard but could party with the best of us. His
world knowledge came not from books and formal education but
hard earned experiences from working over fifty years at his craft...
Construction. He could often be found giving out advice, cracking
a joke, and helping strangers and friends alike.

“He was a man of many talents, a big heart,
and strength in the face of adversity in his life.
He will truly be missed and, as he always wanted,
he will always be remembered with love and a smile.”
